Haze

Black & white. I’ve been leaning towards monochromatic and minimalist looks that have an understated glamour. Think rich fabrics and textures, polished & clean silhouettes, and unexpected yet artful combinations that emphasize strong architectural qualities rather than other fashion flourishes such as embellishment, prints and colors. However, this aesthetic can sometimes lean too austere for my personality and lifestyle, so I try to find ways to add feminine elements—typically accessories—that reflect my personality, such as pretty jewelry a dazzling pair of shoes.

When going for a modern look as I did here, combining shredded white denim shorts with a gray, edgy, draped Helmut Lang top, I realized that these strappy wedges would add the necessary softness and femininity that resonated with my personality. I love the delicate buckles that make these small wedges feminine, yet totally modern. The perfect focal point.

How do you adapt the trends you love to your personality?

For the record, this was my first ever self-photographed shoot. I initially walked around Miami's Design District around 11am trying to find a good spot to shoot, but it was SO HOT that I just couldn't do it. Ended up just shooting from my parent's balcony so I could quickly slip inside and cool off when it got too hot. I also read somewhere that shooting from below can make you look taller...but then read after the shoot that it's actually the least flattering angle. Have to agree, but what can you do! You live and you learn!
