When it comes to pants, I always rely on my skinny jeans: somehow the tight-on-the-bottom, slouchy-on-top silhouette always appealed to me because it seemed to tuck, conceal and emphasize all the right places. But who can escape the pervasive pajama pants and wide-legged trousers that have been filling up the racks since spring / summer began? If Resort 2015 is any indication, these billowy fellows will be around for a while, so I’ll attempt to prepare myself for the onslaught, starting off with this slimming, striped, silky pair.
Now, skinny-jean logic would suggest that a loose pant demands a tight top, but I think you could get away with a moderately loose tank-top, like this black one, especially if you opt tying an on-trend knot on the hem of the shirt. A structured bag, some delicate (yet sexy) jewelry, and some strappy sandals will lend this number a feminine vibe to your menswear-inspired garment and remain appropriately summery through September. The great thing about these pants, though, is that their multi-colored disposition enable you to pair this in a number of different ways, depending on the season or occasion. A white sleeveless button down shirt (especially buttoned to the top) or a maroon knit could easily lighten the mood, and one of those ubiquitous bucket bags would look appropriately structured-yet-loose. Cozy sweater knits—even slightly oversized ones—will easily transition you to fall, especially with a slip on or a sneaker to keep your toes warm. With comfort and casual being the key words these days, the possibilities are, as clichéd as it sounds, truly infinite, especially with a silhouette like these.
With winter coming up, I’m getting slightly excited to abandon those constricting skinnies and pulling a pair of non-lululs to get me through the day...
But now let me ask you: how would you style this trend? What are your favorites pair for the season? Leave a comment below to let me know!
